A CARVED IVORY TOBACCO RASP FRENCH, EARLY 18TH CENTURY The front with two putti flanking a cartouche with the cypher 'NL'; above a seated lady with a putto encircled by a banner with the inscription 'FAEMINA/POLLVIT/CORPUS OPES/ANISEISTAT/ANIMAM/ERIPIT/VIM LVMINA/NECAT OR/VOCEM/BAT ACERBAT'; the bottom with a basket of fruit and flowers above and a grotesque mask; the reverse with a label inscribed 'Collection E. EVRARD/XVIII e. s/Régence/2696. Minor repair to the bowl. AND ANOTHER CARVED IVORY TOBACCO RASP DEPICTING A COURTING COUPLE IN A PARK French, 18th century The bowl covered by a lid carved with a profile bust of a lady; the underside of the lid with a label inscribed 'Collection E. EVRARD/XVIII/se. L.XIV/2680'. Cracks; the top part of the rasp and the lid later replacements; other minor elements replaced. 8¾ in. (22.2 cm.) high 8½ in. (21.6 cm.) high (2)
