Property of a Private New York Collector A Chinese Export Gilt and Black Lacquer Cabinet, First Half 19th Centuryraised on bracket feet height 42 in.; width 39 in.; depth 20 1/4 in.height 106.7 cm; width 99.1 cm; depth 51.4 cmCondition reportWith general overall marks, nicks, surface scratches, chips, and small losses and repairs throughout consistent with age and use. The three lacquer panels (on each of the the front doors and the top) with signs of infill and retouching to decoration. The top lacquer panel with visible losses to gilt surface decoration particularly on raised figures and also with some losses to black ground on proper right side. The top panel edge with a chip on proper left side, another on proper left corner and a few small losses to edges throughout. Craquelure and general losses to gilt decoration throughout entire cabinet, commensurate with age and use. A few of the engraved hinges lacking nails, but all intact and functional. Overall a very attractive cabinet, sturdy and structurally sound, ready to use. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale. The
