A Continental, probably French celadon glazed ceramic and gilt metal mounted jar and cover in the Chinese taste, late 19th century, probably by Samson, the slightly domed cover with toupie finial, the rim and conforming jar rim with foliate incised decoration, on a conforming circular foot, with indistinct impressed mark to underside, 18cm high
