A Danish silver “Cherub” beaker, of tapering form, the top rim engraved with strapwork, the mid part engraved with owner's initials and date IISB GED 1725 flanked by foliate sprays, the lower part applied with corded band adorned with three cast winged cherub heads, domed profiled base. Maker Jens Jacobsen Hoff, Copenhagen 1725. Weight 172 g. H. 12.5 cm. Provenance: Professor Oluf Thomsen's Collection. Hereafter Antiquarian Gerda Petri (1934–2020), former curator, The Royal Danish Collection, Copenhagen. Literature: Chr. A. Bøje: Danske guld og sølv smedemærker (Danish gold and silver marks), 1979. Volume I, p. 118, referred to under the maker Jens Jacobsen Hoff: Trumpet-shaped beaker KM 1725.
