5 lbs 11.4 oz weight, appropriate for a period Maximillian type helmet. One piece skull with fluting and slashed decoration within four of the flutes. Visor finely constructed and fluted en suite with the skull. Pierced with vertical breaths and horizontal pierced eyelets. Base of helmet roped, once again appropriate for a Maximillian helmet. The helmet rivets are finely fluted. CONDITION: Exterior of helmet in good condition with some significant raised rust. Entire helmet appears to have been rusted and properly polished. Interior of helmet showing considerable age and age corrosion. Helmet has engraved brass plume holder showing considerable wear and age. Form of helmet is excellent and helmets of this type may be seen in museums throughout the United States and Europe. Quality is fine throughout and condition appropriate for one of these rare headpieces.
