A FLEMISH ALLEGORICAL TAPESTRY WORKSHOP OF MARTIN REYMBOUTS, BRUSSELS, LATE 16TH/ EARLY 17TH CENTURY Woven in silks and wools, depicting Theological and Cardinal Virtues, with a central colonnaded circular temple with a figure of Faith standing upon a pedestal, flanked to each side by three bays, each supporting a lunette representing Day, Night and Time, each bay separated by columns and centred by standing allegorical figures depicting Justice, Prudence, Charity, Hope, Fortitude and Temperance standing against a blue ground, the architectural entablature supported by elaborate term figures, scrolls and masks and surrounded by grotesque design on a predominantly yellow ground within a border, each corner with a seated female figure representing the Four Elements, with weaver's mark on both lower corners of the left and right vertical outer slips, minor areas of restoration and reweaving 135 in. (343 cm.) high; 153 ½ in. (390 cm.) wide
