A FRENCH SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOL FOR THE EASTERN MARKET BY V PEYRET DUBOIRE; AND A TURKISH FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL
EACH EARLY 19TH CENTURY
A FRENCH SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOL FOR THE EASTERN MARKET BY V PEYRET DUBOIRE; AND A TURKISH FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL EACH EARLY 19TH CENTURY The first with two-stage barrel struck with barrel maker's mark on the breech, signed lock with roller, wooden full stock profusely inlaid with complex patterns of silver wire scrollwork and silver wire foliage involving engraved silver flower heads, full silver mounts cast in relief in the Ottoman taste, and original iron ramrod, St Etienne proof marks; The second with tapering barrel engraved at the breech, engraved bevelled lock, the stock profusely inlaid with engraved silver flowers (the fore-end replaced), and with brass mounts cast in low relief The first 39.5 cm.; the second 51 cm. (2)
