Beschreibung:

The black leather skull with black leather peak trimmed in gilt brass. Underside of peak incised DB13. Brass Medusa head crest with black horsehair plumes. Brass frontplate with applied crown and molded with Royal cipher and regimental cipher with ribands above and below emblazoned with the battle honors Salamanca/Peninsula and with oval panel below with regimental title. Lower edge of skull encircled by four brass lames scalloped with shell panels. Leather-baked brass chinscales formed of overlapping plates fashioned as laurel leaves with lion paw fasteners. Blossom-form chinscale rosettes. Leather sweatband. Burlap liner. Condition: Leather sound but showing surface scuffing. Crest with fractures and missing area at right front. Frontplate showing cracks and restoration. Lining replaced. See Illustration
