A GERMAN HUNTING-SWORD with straight double-edged blade etched and gilt on each face of the forte with panels of strapwork, a trophy of arms, a flaming heart, the device of a lion with a flaming candle and the inscription 'Les Grands out Aussi Peur de Peu de Chose', brass hilt comprising downturned scallop-shaped shell, knuckle-guard and lobed rear quillon shaped in angular waves, faceted pommel-cap, and staghorn grip, in brass-mounted leather scabbard, mid-18th Century; and a composite German hanger, with double-edged blade struck twice on each face with the king's head mark of Johannes Wundes of Solingen and with central fuller engraved with orb and cross and running wolf marks, a Latin inscription and 'Iohannes Wvndes', iron hilt comprising knuckle-guard with side-loop, downscrolled rear quillon, pommel-cap, and staghorn grip, late 17th Century 23in. and 31½in. blades (2)
