CAST BY HENRI PICARD, THE FIGURAL GROUP AFTER THE MODEL BY CLODION, PARIS, THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY
A NAPOLEON III ORMOLU AND ONYX FIGURAL THREE-PIECE CLOCK GARNITURE CAST BY HENRI PICARD, THE FIGURAL GROUP AFTER THE MODEL BY CLODION, PARIS, THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY Comprising a clock and a pair of seven-light candelabra, the clock with a pair of bacchantus, one holding a tambourine, the other with a bunch of grapes, next to an infant satyr crowned with vines on a naturalistic base signed ' Clodion 1762 ', above a shaped ormolu-mounted plinth with applied gilt Roman numerals and blue-steeled Breguet style hands, stamped to the reverse 'H.PICARD' and numbered '3321', the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike to bell, with pendulum; the en suite candelabra each with a baluster vase swagged with ribbon-tied medaillions and putto herms, issuing scrolled foliate branches above a conformingly-decorated base, each stamped to the reverse 'H.PICARD'and numbered '3283' The clock: 31½ in. (80 cm.) high; 17¾ in. (45 cm.) wide; 11 in. (28 cm.) deep The candelabra: 35 in. (89 cm.) high
