A pair of Italian maiolica armorial albarelli, Deruta, dated 1562
H.: 20 cm Condition: (UV-checked) - The albarello inscribed 'SCAMONEA' in very good condition. Two tight glaze lines on the back, to the lower part. Negligible superficial baking flaws and crazing. Minimal superficial glaze loss around the rim. - The albarello inscribed 'DIA IRISS' in excellent condition. Negligible superficial baking flaws and crazing. Minimal superficial glaze loss around the rim. Ref.: - Sotheby's, Amsterdam, Sep. 17, 2007, for another albarello with the same coat of arms, also dated 1562 and inscribed LOHOC. DI.PAPPI, presumably from the same pharmacy. (Sold EUR 4.750) ( link ) - Tajan, Paris, March 8, 2006, for another albarello with the same coat of arms, also dated 1562 and inscribed S.DI.FUMOSTERNO, presumably from the same pharmacy.
