A SEVRES (HARD PASTE) DESSERT-PLATE (ASSIETTE DE DESSERT) CIRCA 1806-8, ERASED RED MARK, INCISED SCRIPT N, 1 AND ARROWHEAD MARK The centre painted in shades of brown highlighted in gilding with a figure of a classical bearded man beside a plinth with an antique vase, on a grey-brown 'marbled' ground within a broad gilt well, the dark-blue ground border with a band of linked acanthus leaves and palmettes within gilt bands, the underside of the rim and footrim with a gilt line (minute chipping to footrim) 9¼ in. (23.5 cm) diam.
