A Victorian brass eight day great wheel skeleton clock with passing strike
ATTRIBUTED TO JAMES CONDLIFF, THIRD SERIES, RETAILED BY LITHERLAND DAVIES & CO., LIVERPOOL. CIRCA 1855
A Victorian brass eight day great wheel skeleton clock with passing strike Attributed to James Condliff, Third Series, Retailed by Litherland Davies & Co., Liverpool. Circa 1855 The delicate scrolling frame secured with seven pillars, screwed to the front and pinned to the rear, on a rectangular base applied with an engraved and silvered plaque signed Litherland Davies & Co./LIVERPOOL , raised on ball feet, with narrow silvered and engraved Roman chapter ring, blued steel Breguet hands, going barrel movement, great wheel with six crossings and other wheelwork with five crossings, anchor escapement, with passing strike on gong positioned in the mahogany plinth below (later trip and later gong), under possibly original glass dome; pendulum, key 14¼ in. (36.5 cm.) high over dome
