A VINCENNES OR SEVRES GREEN-GROUND MUSTARD-POT AND COVER (MOUTARDIER ORDINAIRE) 1756, BLUE INTERLACED L'S ENCLOSING DATE LETTER D, PAINTER'S MARK S FOR MEREAUD, INCISED SCRIPT k AND S Of barrel shape with an ear-shaped handle, painted with a spray of flowers including a pink and yellow rose within a quatrefoil cartouche edged with gilt rococo scrolls, flowers and trelliswork panels, the upper and lower borders with moulded gilt ribs, the flat cover with two kidney-shaped reserves with trailing flowers within gilt scrolls, a carnation finial and a gilt dentil rim (slight chip to leaf of finial, slight flaking to gilding on cover and top rim of pot) 3¼ in.
