1891 vintage Winchester Model 1873 Third Model lever action musket, serial number, 371527B. 30" round barrel chambered in .44 Winchester Center Fire (.44-40 WCF) with end of magazine tube measuring about three inches from muzzle. Military type adjustable leaf rear sight with blade front. Cartridge elevator is marked ".44 Cal.". 2 piece plain stock and musket forearm in 3 barrel band musket configuration complete with military buttplate with butt trap (trap is empty). Sling swivels at middle barrel band and bottom of stock near toe. Also included with this lot is a non-matching triangular bayonet in U.S. marked metal sheath. CONDITION: Very good with metal assemblies turning a mottled gray patina with scattered light pitting and handling marks. King's Patent loading gate retains traces of original fire bluing. Stock and forearm are good with moderate to heavy handling marks and a live crack near foremost barrel band. Faint to deep deliberate geometric shapes carved into stock and forearm on left side. Action works correctly. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Bayonet and sheath are good with moderate freckling and handling marks.
