A wonderful collection of commemorative, patriotic and advertising labels , formed by a European gentleman in the first thirty years of the century. The main part of the collection is housed in a large hand-printed album and comprises of Exhibitions including a marvellous series of four labels in different colours printed for the 1879 Sydney Exhibition, many of the other labels are Belgian in origin starting in 1894 for the Antwerp Exhibition, 1897 Brussels International Exhibition is very well represented including proofs and essays, as are the other major shows at Liege (1905), Brussels (1906 and 1910) and Gand (1913). In addition local Belgian exhibitions are represented. The album also contains a superb collection of Philatelic Exhibition labels including Vienna (1881), Frankfurt (1887), Geneva (1896), London and Leipzig (1897), Turin (1898), Manchester (1899), Paris (1900), Uccle (1905), Milan (1906), Paris, Copenhagen and Zagreb (1907), Amsterdam and Graz (1909), also included are various covers and cards. Other exhibition subjects include Horticulture, Food and Drink. Patriotic and Propaganda a large quantity of primarily W.W.I period from England, France, Belgium, Italy and Germany including complete sheets, an album of Swiss W.W.I soldier stamps, other propaganda labels are present most notably Ireland 1916 Erie Puist complete sheetlet of eight and Manchester Martyrs singles (2). Advertising and Poster designs with a number of decorative types from Germany in the 1920's, trade shows in the U.S.A. from the same period, 1914 Colonial Exhibition at Samarang. A fabulous and highly important collection. (many thousands)
