A high-quality photograph album of a tour of the Indian Ocean through the Suez Canal and on to England. Sri Lanka is featured in 19 photographs, with harbor views of Colombo and local vendors. Cruising through the Suez Canal, the photographer shows us 19 uncommon views of tiny villages along its banks, the railway which parallels the Canal, local men building a barrier, various kinds of boats on the Canal, &c. Port Said harbor with merchant and fishing boats, a lighthouse, and large retail outlets are shown. Additional images show features of the Tawahi Port of Aden in Yemen. The old harbor of Marseilles, France accounts for a number of photographs, along with the Palace at Versailles and its extensive gardens. At Spithead near the Isle of Wight, we see a naval review underway. At Cowes, a week-long regatta was won by Sir William Portal and his ketch "Valdora." Other places visited include Shanklin, Ryde, Alum Bay, and Seaview Bay with its charming Victorian and Edwardian architecture, along with Wootton Suspension Pier. Some 30 photographs were taken on the Isle of Wight. After a visit to Southampton, Captain Warner points the steam-powered RMS Maloja homeward, with sojourns to Sonning in Wokingham, Bagnor in West Berkshire, and Marlow in south Buckinghamshire.
