AN EXTREMELY RARE INSCRIBED YIXING JUN-IMITATION 'PEACH' WATERDROPPERQING DYNASTY, YONGZHENG PERIOD清雍正 紫砂宜鈞釉「萬壽齊天」桃形水注 naturalistically modelled in the form of a large peach fruit borne on a gnarled hollowed branch extended to the side forming the handle, the knotted branch issuing broad furled leaves in relief forming the base, carved in relief to the side of the fruit with four characters reading Wanshou tianqi (Myriad longevity equal to the heavens), covered overall in a variegated sky-blue glaze suffused with a faint crackle imitating Song dynasty Jun wares, the glaze further dimpled with white and mushroom-coloured speckles simulating the texture of the fruit, the base with an unglazed area revealing the red stoneware body14.3 cm, 5⅝ in.Condition ReportAs visible in the catalogue photo, there is an approx. 3 by 1.7 cm chip to the handle retouched with kintsugi. There are insignificant shallow flakes to the edges of the leaves. There is a firing imperfection below the inscription that was lightly polished, measuring approx. 2.2 by 1.9 cm.
