The ovoid body rises from a broad foot to a flaring neck, set with a short spout, two small lugs, and an arched handle. The body decorated with two minimalist lines and partial crackling to the amber glaze which stops unevenly above the foot, revealing the buff ware. The handles and rim of the ewer are splashed with a distinct iron glaze. Provenance: From a private collection in the northeastern United States. A label ‘Steven J. Harvis Collection 815 New York’ to the base. Steven J. Harvis was a Manhattan attorney for 50 years and built an international law firm as the senior partner. He has been collecting, studying and dealing in Chinese works of art from the Shang Dynasty through the Republic Period for more than 35 years. Condition: Very good condition with old wear, minute glaze flaking, small nicks, light surface scratches, and expected manufacturing flaws.
