Title: Atlas historique, généalogique, chronologique, et géographique par A. Lesage Author: [Las Casas, E., Comte de] Le Sage, A., pseud. Place: Paris Publisher: Leclère Date: 1829 Description: With 37 double-leaves containing multiple columns of printed text, portions of it hand-colored; 20 of the double-leaves contain hand-colored copper-engraved maps, a few with two maps per leaf. (Folio) 20x14¼, period quarter sheep and mottled boards, gilt-lettered leather spine label. "Nouvelle Édition ou Réimpression." The fine maps include a double-hemisphere map of the world, the various continents, the countries of Europe at various historical periods, and maps of the Americas and the United States. The map of the Americas shows the western border with Mexico at latitude 40 degrees, but in the United States map it was moved up a few degrees; both include Texas, California and the Southwest as part of Mexico. Lot Amendments Condition: Scuffs to exterior, edge wear, corners and front fore-edge bumped; archival paper repairs throughout including stubs (cheifly to beginning text leaves which have short tears), old inked notes on the leaf versos, mild toning, scattered light foxing and finger-soiling; else very good.
