To the art writer Fridolf Johnson, inquiring if he is the same FJ with whom he had worked and from whom he had received valuable advice in the 1940s. Clean signature, traversed by narrow vertical crease. With FJ's 1 page, TLS reply. Wayne Thiebaud (born 1920), pioneering pop artist. * Autograph Letter Signed. Diebenkorn, Richard. Santa Monica, 2. 24. [19]84. 1 1/4 pages, 4to; light creases along old folds. To Herb Yellin (publisher, founder of Lord John Press), declining to have his work published by Yellin, "...But looking closer and thinking about execution - it's not quite what I do - or maybe simply not what I want to do..." Body and signature clear and strong. Signed "Dick Diebenkorn," light vertical crease just touching outer edge of the "k" in "Dick." With hand-addressed postal envelope. Richard Diebenkorn (1922-1993), American painter associated with abstract expressionism and the Bay Area Fugitive movement.
