Paris: G[ermain] Hardouyn [c. 1500-1510], olive morocco gilt by Leighton, g.e., extremities scuffed, chemise and morocco-backed slipcase (worn), lacking calendar, all full-page cuts, and other leaves, occasional smudging to color , collation: A1 C4-8 D-M8 N4, 81 (of ?) leaves, 28 lines, bâtarde type, wood- or metal cut printer's device on title and 12 vignettes, PRINTED ON VELLUM, the cuts fully colored by a contemporary illuminator, architectural borders supplied to the pages with vignettes in gold and red ink, initials and line fillers in gold on siena or blue grounds, bookplate of Paul-Louis-Feiss -- [JAMES I, owner ]. LUCANUS, MARCUS ANNAEUS. Pharsalia, Leipzig: (Henning Grosse) 1589, contemporary English brown calf, arms of King James I stamped in blind at center of covers within blind-tooled fillet border, later lettering-piece, worn, repairs to upper cover, corners, board edges and tail of spine, a remboîtage?, folding morocco case by R. Wallis (rubbed), soiling and foxing , woodcut printer's device on title, early ownership inscriptions on front flyleaf of Will Braton and Gilb.
