BOUVIER FRERES. AN UNUSUAL GOLD AND ENAMEL PASSING AUTOMATON WATCH CONTAINING FIVE DIFFERENT MOVEMENTS, WITH EXPOSED BALANCE Signed Bouvier Freres, circa 1830 With gilt-finished two train verge movement, the backplate with mounted painted and enamel automaton, the scene with rotating figures moving up and down on a see-saw, and a man working with his donkey behind, the wheel of his cart turning along with the head of the donkey moving up and down, the sector background with painted image of water fountains in the country, with two automated water features, covering the movement and automata is an enamelled cuvette decorated with multi-coloured enamel showing scene of cows, church and flying birds, a cut out sector above displaying the moving and passing automata, the white enamel dial with eccentric time dial with Arabic numerals, two subsidiary dials one for the polished steel decorative balance and the other for advance/retard indication, the gold case with simple decorative blue and black enamel band, glazed back, dial signed 56 mm. diam.
