Camille Pissarro (1830-1903)
Autograph letter signed (‘C. Pissarro) to [Maximilien] Luce, Éragny, 8 March 1891
In French. Two pages, 202 x 133mm. Provenance: Sotheby's, 26 & 27 November 1980, lot 206.
A friendly letter from Camille Pissarro to his friend and fellow-Impressionist Maximilien Luce. Pissarro asks Luce to forward an attached letter to Louis Hayet at the correct address. He writes that Kahn is happy with a picture which Pissarro had sent him. He updates Luce that his son, Lucien, has sent an engraving to the frame maker Pierre Cluzel in preparation for the Exposition des Indépendants, asking him to take care of this if he is involved in the ‘commission de placement’. In a postscript he tells Luce that his eye has been much better for the last fortnight.
