13 bore. 2.5" chamber lengths. 30" barrel length. SN: 3706. Damascus-barreled sidelock break-action shotgun in textile and leather lined wooden case. Browned metal finish to barrels with casehardening to locks and small parts and blued lever. Barrel rib marked "PATENT" followed by "WESTLEY RICHARDS, 170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON". Lever signed "WESTLEY RICHARDS/PATENT". Both locks are signed "WESTLEY RICHARDS" and serial numbers to handguard, barrels, and tang match. Triggerguard and tang display floral scroll. Barrels show Birmingham proof marks and the initials "W.R." Wood case has a red felt liner with brown leather to edges and lid. Texitile wrap to case is green canvas. Lid shows the initials "G.F.C.". Case has a brass lockplate but there is no key. Included within the case are four shotgun shell reloading tool including table mounted roll crimper with detached wooden handle, hand operated roll crimper, and roll cutter. There are three shotgun buttplates including two made of steel and one of hard rubber that shows checkering surrounding a "{Vignette of deer in the woods}", three tin primer cases for Winchester no. 2 and No. 6 primers and No. 2 primers from the "DOMINION CARTRIDGE CO./MONTREAL, CANADA.", oil bottle with cap signed "A.F & CO./NEW YORK", two-piece cleaning rod, patent jag in brass case, bore snake, and assorted bore brushes in plastic bag. 1.5" drop to comb. 2.25" drop to heel. 13.5" length of pull. Cylinder bore to both barrels. Item lacks an attached buttplate and the three buttplates in case are non matching. Forend has no cap. Condition: Overall metal finish shows a brown patina to barrels with wear marks surrounding them. Casehardened parts have a weak finish except for water tables. Gray patina forming to casehardened parts. Lever bluing shows edgewear and weakening to knurling. Triggerguard and tang is a brown patina. One of the three buttplates is oxidized while the other steel one is bright. Hard rubber buttplate has light wear to checkering and some scratches. Wood to metal finish is tight with small crack behind lockplates. Chip to furniture near forward edge of right lockplate. Wrist checkering is worn with some skips and mars. Additional dings and mars overall in addition to tarnish on escutcheon. Brass cleaning kit parts and lockplate are tarnished. Seam to forward end of lockplates opening. Wedge pin to handguard does not fit flush. Some chips along edges of forend. Screws are not timed and show signs of removal for maintenance and repair. Barrel lockup is loose but hammers cock and release correctly. Left and right sides of lid have broken off and textile liner peeling to both sides and on lid of case. Interior liner is discolored with flaking to edges of lid. Outer textile finish is stained brown overall while leather edges are scuffed and abraded and show leather wastage on all portions of box.
