Though known as Giant Clams, only Tridacna gigas reaches a very large size. Here are five examples, displaying a variety of lovely, undulating forms. The largest is one half of the Tridacna gigas (Giant Clam), at 25 1/4 inches wide; the northwestern Pacific China Clam, Hippopus porcellanus, measures 4 1/2 inches; accompanied by Hippopus hippopus, with its delicate blue-black tinting, and the gentle frond-like waves of the Tidacma squamosa as well as a Tridacna maxima.
