EIGHT TSUBA OF VARIOUS TYPES EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700-1850), SIGNED The iron tsuba comprising: an oval plate carved with two gold-banded bows on the face with silver strings, a double chrysanthemum blossom carved around the nakago-ana , the reverse decorated with crossed arrows, the points in silver and the fletches with gold highlights, the center with blossoms, the rim with very slight iron bones, (this is a better example than many of the same design signed Shichiza), (circa 1700)--8.3cm. h., 7.6cm. w., 4.5mm. th.; a thick round plate carved and overlaid in very high relief with three sages in shakudo , gold, and copper, the reverse with a pine tree and waves, signed Naosada and kao , (Hamano school, circa 1850)--7.1cm. h., 6.7cm. w., 5.5mm. th., with inlay 9mm. th.; an irregular, smooth plate with raised edge, hot-stamped with the symbols for the five mountain ranges of China, three on front, two on back, signed Munemasa and kao , (Munemasa lived in Ise Province, was a retainer of the Todo daimyo, and was of the Egawa family, circa 1830)--7.2cm. h., 6.7cm. w., 4mm. th., a round plate carved with circular cloud forms, the web carved with a stylized wave pattern, signed Heianjo ju Nobumitsu , circa 1800 (not the heianjo brass inlay artist of this name [circa 1650])--7.8cm. h., 7.1cm. w., 5mm. th.; a large mokko -form plate with a woodgrain ground, signed Shinto go tetsuren Myochin Ki Munemata , (rusted and depatinated)--8.8cm. h., 8.7cm. w., 5.5mm. th.; a plate formed as a grazing horse, the plate's bottom formed as rope, (rust areas on rim)--6.8cm. h., 6.4cm. w., 6mm. th.; an oval plate with flat top and bottom, the surface carved in low relief with a heron, the body forming the seppa dai area, some reeds decorate both sides, (the reverse with the Yasuchika carved seal, circa 1850)--6.6cm. h. 6.3cm. w., 5mm. th., a large plate carved in low relief with Fuden on one side and Raiden on the other, with gold nunome highlights, (in the classic style of the Tanaka school)--8.4cm. h., 7.8cm. w., 3.5mm. th.
