English Mahogany Double Fusee Bracket Clock. 8 in. dia. silvered brass dial signed Ormond, London, has fancy engraved filigree, black incised Roman hour numerals, black 5 minute numbers, open moon hands and brass bezel with deep convex glass; brass double fusee and cable spring driven movement has a verge & crowntwheel escapement, hour drop hammer strike on a bell at the top of the movement and repeater string on the right side, rear plate has engraved borders and reads "to George Washington, 1790". Mahogany case has an arched top with brass handle, glass panels on the front door and sides over pierced brass fish scale pattern screens, glass panel in the rear door and stands on brass feet. Case has a very old overcoated finish with some natural seam splits and restoration to the veneer, bracket under the movement has a split and repair to one support. A piece of paper inside of the case notes that a previous owner's grandmother Mrs. Roxana (Case) King was a member of the Mt. Vernon Ladies, which was a group who undertook the task of restoring and re-furnishing Mt. Vernon. Clock is running.17 in. high x 12.5 in. wide x 7.5 in. deep. Weight: 19 lbs.
