Schwerdt calls it a 'classic book on hawking, held to be the best and most comprehensive treatise, which, with original Italian and Latin manuscripts, has been the subject of study and research by many writers'. Although Schwerdt mentions a reissue published in 1756, Ceresoli and Nissen both describe the 1788-89 edition as the second.
