FRENCH ROYALTY: PHILIPPE VII: (1838-1894) King of the French 24th - 26th February 1848, Count of Paris and the Orléanist claimant to the French throne from 1848-94. A.L.S., Le Cte. De Paris, in the third person, one page, 8vo, Ravensworth Castle (Tyne & Wear, England), 10th December 1862, to Mr. Grillon, in French. The Count instructs his correspondent to have a letter addressed to Lord Stanley of Alderley and then placed in the post to him. Some light staining, only very slightly affecting the text but not the signature, together with PRINCE HENRI (1820-1883) Count of Chambord, disputedly the King of France from 2nd - 9th August 1830 as Henry V (although never officially proclaimed as such). Legitimist Pretender to the throne of France 1844-83. A.L.S., Cte. de Chambord, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d., to a gentleman, in French. The Count writes, in full, 'I would be obliged if you had the following changes made to the first chapters of the Second Part: France on the Outside. I believe it would be useful to have the detailed titles of those chapters reproduced in the table of contents.' Some light age wear and a very small, minor tear to the lower left corner, also including MORNY CHARLES DE (1811-1865) Duke of Morny. French Statesman, the extra marital son of Hortense de Beauharnais, thereby making him the half-brother of Emperor Napoleon III. A.L.S., Morny, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d. ('Samedi'), to a lady, in French. Morny invites his correspondent to dinner that evening, adding 'and then we will go to the Opera Comique to hear the rehearsal of the Opera d'Arles….will you please arrive at 6.30 as the rehearsal starts at 7' and asking her to 'RSVP'. Some very light, minor age wear and a couple of small, neat splits to the edges of folds, G, 3 Henry Stanley (1827-1903) 3rd Baron Stanley of Alderley. British Peer and Historian who converted to Islam and in 1869 became the first Muslim member of the House of Lords.
