De insectis, in methodum redactus; cum notularum additione. Opera M. Lister, e Regia Societate Londinensi. London: R. E[veringham] for S. Smith 1685.
Second edition of Lister's Latin translation of Johannes Goedart's work on insects. This edition contains an appendix dealing with shells and beetles and contains 7 plates on present in the first edition. ESTC R2944; Lisney 46; Nissen ZBI 1606; Wing G1002.
2 parts in one volume, octavo (186 x 110mm). 21 folding engraved plates (light worming in the inner margins at end affects text and plates slightly, fore-edge of first B6 cut away though with no loss of text, and fore-edge of first B7 slightly frayed). Contemporary sprinkled calf (neatly rebacked in calf to style). Provenance: Tittenhanger, Hertfordshire (manuscript inscription 'Tittenhanger Library' on preliminary pastedown, probably Sir Thomas Pope Blount, 1st Bt., M.P., 1649-1697; sold Sotheby’s London, Valuable Printed Books, 26-27 April 1982, lot 44, to:) — T.J. Dillon (bookplate).
