(Light mostly marginal foxing to a very few leaves.) Contemporary vellum, 18th-century manuscript titles on upper cover. Provenance : Georgius Linnclaverius? (16th-century inscription on title); Schoental [near Regensburg], Augustinian Hermits (inscription on title, Ad conventu vallis speciosa ); a few early marginalia and underlines; Lionel H. Pries (bookplate). VERY RARE pocket edition of Gregory I's popular life of St. Benedict, with the Benedictine Rule and the rules of monastic conduct by Bernard Ayglier, 13th-century abbot of Monte Cassino, first printed in the Giunta 1505 edition of the same collection of texts.
