Beschreibung:

Half-plate Daguerreotype Depicting a Painted Portrait of a Revolutionary War Military Officer, mounted under glass and a brass mat, (wipes, spiders, dust, lacking case). Note: This daguerreotype portrait is possibly a copy of a portrait by Eunice Makepeace Towle (1806-1894), according to an accompanying note which incorrectly identifies the sitter as "The Hon. Edmund Burke 1808-1882," who was a state representative of New Hampshire, and was not reported to have served in the military. The officer's uniform appears to be from the late 18th/early 19th century.
