Herbert Ponting and others Collection of twelve photographs, mostly of the British Antarctic "Terra Nova" Expedition, 1910-13 12 silver prints (140 x 190mm. to 202 x 253mm., or the reverse), unmounted, 8 with Paul Popper/Popperfoto agency stamps or labels on the reverse, some edge wear and creases A GOOD COLLECTION OF PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE GOLDEN AGE OF ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION. Eleven of the photographs are from Captain Scott's 1910-13 "Terra Nova" expedition, for which Hebert Ponting was the official photographer, showing Ponting with various cameras and in his dark room, penguins, seals (including one enlarged duplicate), ice floes, the "Terra Nova" trapped in the ice, and on board the Terra Nova in a stormy sea. One photograph is from Scott's 1901-04 "Discovery" expedition and shows the two relief ships "Morning" and "Terra Nova", probably taken by Reginald Skelton who served as chief engineer and official photographer on that expedition.Condition reportCondition is described in the main body of the cataloguing, where appropriate The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale.
