Photographer: Wiele & Klein and P. A. Klier . Travel album with views of southern India, Ceylon and Burma . 1890s. Circa 72 large-format albumen prints. Most circa 21 x 27 cm. Mounted to album boards (warped, time-stained in edges), bound in contemporary maroon half leather album (spine missing, edges rubbed) . Includes picturesque views of Colombo, natives and monuments, landscapes, as well as Rangoon with street life and temples, lepers begging on the street, a Buddhist priest and working elephants. An attractive section comprises views of temples in India such as the Meenakshi Amman Temple and district, the Rock Temple and Fort of Trichinopoly, as well as a general view seen from the Rock Temple, the Sri Ranganthaswamy Temple in Sirangam, Q'tub Minar and Taj Mahal and others. – Some photos slightly faded in edges, some with surface scuff marks, otherwise in good to very good condition and many with strong contrasts.
