A fine and early silver Puritan pre-hairspring verge watch Signed Johan Vander Fooren, Rotterdam, circa 1665 With gilt-finished chain fusée verge movement, finely chased, engraved and pierced floral decorated balance cock and foot, secured by a pin to a block in the top plate, steel two-armed pre-hairspring balance wheel, worm set-up with blued steel decorative mounts, silver regulation dial, pierced Egyptian pillars, finely engraved floral decorated gilt dial plate, the silver dial with engraved and blacked Roman numerals, half-hour divisions, inner quarter hour ring, the centre field with finely engraved view of a classical interior with a seated writer and a reclining lion, single steel hand, the circular case with finely engraved pastoral scenes to band and reverse, chased and engraved split bezel, ring pendant and seven-piece hinge, movement signed 41 mm. diam.
