JOHN BACK (senior, father of Sir George Back . Autograph letter signed to his son, George Back Spitalfields London. Oct 14. 1815 , 3 pages, 4to with address panel on verso of final leaf 'For Mr. George Back H M S. Acbar[sic]. Capt. Bullen Halifax. America'. seal (small section torn away and adhering to seal). A fine letter, replete with paternal advice, on the ordering of clothes, prospects for promotion ('Henry Cook have[sic] known many Instances of young men having been confined as prisoner[sic] for some years. have helpd them. towards passing to the desirable rank of Lieut.') and ending with news of various family members.
