Stansby, to be sold by Rich[ard] Meighen 1616 (London: for Richard Meighen [1631-] 1640 [-1641]). 3 vols. in 2 [i.e., vol. 2 divided into four parts, originally issued in two vols.], folio, 291 x 186 mm. (11 7/16 x 7 5/16 in.), olive crushed morocco, covers panelled with triple gilt fillet, spines gilt in six compartments, turn-ins gilt, g.e., by Riviere & Son, very slight wear to joints and extremities, gold leaf rubbed away in a few spots, vol. 1 lacking first leaf blank, engraved title soiled and with edges slightly frayed, 3K1.6 (vol. 1) remargined, 2-inch tear to 4O3 affecting a few letters, a few other mostly marginal tears or repairs, last few leaves of vol. 1 creased and soiled, very occasional light spotting, some soiling to outer margins, slight uniform discoloration . FIRST COLLECTED EDITIONS, vols. I and II edited by Jonson, vol. [III] by Sir Kenelm Digby, first volume with engraved title by William Hole (Pforzheimer state A), section-title to Every Man out of his Humour in the second state within woodcut border (McKerrow and Ferguson 224) and with Stanby and Smithwicke imprint, Cynthia's Revels section title in second state (within same border), Poëtaster title in second state, without the border; woodcut head-pieces and initials.
