Juliane Langberg was a Norwegian artist who was originally trained as a schoolteacher. Only at the age of 30 did she begin her artistic career and received lessons in drawing and painting from the Norwegian artists Gerhard Munthe Harriet Backer Eilif Peterssen and Erik Werenskjold as well as the French artist Auguste Delécluse in Paris. Langberg mainly painted interiors and landscape paintings as well as a few portraits. She had several solo exhibitions and participated in collective exhibitions in Norway, as well as in the World’s fair in Paris in 1900 and Charlottenborg in Copenhagen in 1903. For a period, she was the chairwoman of the women's artist association (Bildende Kunstnerinners Forbund) in Norway. This lot is part of our ongoing Theme: Female Artists
