Objektsbeskrivning KANDINSKY, WASSILY. Über das Geistige in der Kunst insbesondere in der Malerei. 2nd edition. München (R. Piper & co) 1912. Small 4to (237x190 mm.). (11, 1 blank), 125, (5) pp. With 10 original woodcutillustrations after Kandinsky and 8 plates in black and white after paintings of Kandinsky and old masters. Original decorated wrappers, cover design by Kandinsky printed in green, partly worn, lower wrapper with dampstain, spine with small damage to upper part. Untrimmed. About 5 pages partly dampstained at the end. 1 sheet loose in the middle. The Artist and the Book 137: "One of the most important manifestos of modern art". The book was written in 1910 and first published in 1912. His important non-objective woodcuts are early graphic demonstrations of his thesis. Second edition. Last pages advertisments for Piper Verlag, amongst others for "Der Blaue Reiter".
