A massive Chinese soapstone carving of fine quality, and of very unusual size. The carving depicts foo lions playing with a massive ball in the midst of clouds. All supported by a very large painted root wood stand. Height: 41 in x width: 35 in x depth: 23 in. Weight: Approx 100 lbs. Condition Request Condition Report Heavily restored. No major losses that would alter the overall appearance of the item significantly; minute dents and losses throughout. Under UV light, there are visible signs of restoration throughout, most noticeably to the right side of the center ring and along the backside. However, due to the original design that used a variety of colors throughout the piece, the different colors of restored areas do not stand out overall. The top piece is loosely attached to the center ring. Along the back, there are drilled holes throughout; given that the holes are visible throughout the jade component, it seems possible that it is an original design. The jade component is loosely attached to the wooden component. Multiple losses to the wooden stand, most noticeably to the right leg, as shown in the listing image. Dust collected. The stand is structurally stable and sturdy. To the top of the stand, there is a sticker adhered.
