Lot consists of: (A) Following the 1970’s-80’s trend toward miniaturized grenades, this was one of the Austrian Arges offerings, the HG 80. Typical of the advanced Arges designs of the day, it has a plastic bonded fragmentation matrix under a plastic body. This grenade has also been copied by Pakistan and China. The grenade is complete and in excellent condition. (B) During the 1970’s and 1980’s Arges of Austria led the world in new and innovative designs for plastic bodied hand grenades. This example is the HdGr69 Defensive fragmentation grenade. The grenade is in excellent condition, with the yellow fuze and green ribbed body in like-new condition. (C) This is the Belgian PRB 423 controlled fragmentation grenade. Fielded in the 1970’s and 80’s and exported in a variety of markings and designations, it is a relatively small, plastic bodied grenade, housing a fragmentation sleeve under a plastic shell. While having an offensive counterpart, this grenade was marketed as containing specifically designed fragmentation resulting in high close-in efficiency and a short safety radius, allowing the grenade to be used in both defensive and offensive roles.
