The poetical introduction to a ballet (with music by the Bolognese composer Giuseppe Felice Tosi) performed in the Teatrino , or little theatre, in the ducal palace at Parma on the occasion of the wedding of the Duke's eldest son, Odoardo Farnese, by his sister Margherita and her ladies in waiting. The sumptuous proscenium and curtain of the theatre is pictured in the frontispiece and was designed by Alessandro Baratta a baroque theatre architect, and engraved by Martial Desbois The four engravings of the scenes are after designs by Ugolinus (one plate signed) and Ferdinando Galli Bibiena (one plate signed in reverse).
