Text in Greek and Latin. 19th century quarter calf and linen-covered boards, rebacked. Worn, browning, institutional stamps. FIRST COLLECTED EDITION, from the 1695 editions in two separate issues. This edition of Hippocrates was translated from the original Greek by Anutius Foesius (1528-1590) over a period of 40 years, using manuscripts housed at Fountaineblue and the Vatican library. It was considered the most scholarly translation until Littre's work 250 years later. Garrison-Morton-Norman 6793.
