Marblehead Pottery Three Color Vase Decorated pottery Marblehead, Massachusetts, early 20th century Ochre ground decorated with an incised band of mossy green and rust-colored leaves with blue-gray berries, red clay body with incised ship cipher on base, ht. 3 3/4 in. Note: Dr. Robert J Hall founded the pottery in 1904 as therapy for the patients he treated in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Arthur Baggs assumed the direction of the pottery in 1916 and the pottery prospered under his direction, producing hand-thrown pieces decorated with the region's coastline motifs and flora.
