[2], iv, 47, [1] pp. (4to) 25.7x21 cm (10¼x8¼"), later leather-backed boards, gilt spine. First Edition. Signed by the author at the end of her poem, a eulogy to Major Andrè (1750 -1780) a British army officer hanged as a spy during the American War of Independence for trying to assist Benedict Arnold's attempted surrender of the fort at West Point, New York to the British. In her dedication, Miss Seward calls him a "murdered Saint... who fell a Martyr in the Cause of his King and Country..."
