Beschreibung:

Highly sought after C.G. Haenel manufactuered German MP-28 machine gun. Marked on top of magazine housing “MP-28.II SYSTEM SCHMEISSER PATENT” with tiny crown over “N” proof, followed by serial number, and then Nazi eagle over “37” proof indicating C.G. Haenel. Tiny crown over “N” repeated on top of receiver tube and on end cap. Stock is non-matching numbered 13985 but of correct vintage and appearance. Bolt is simply marked “19”. A single original “System Schmeisser” 20-round magazine is included which has police markings, “S. B. 448.6”. Electronic registry indicates manufacturer as “Germany” and approved registration form indicates “Haenel”. The MP-28 is a select-fire machine gun which was a further refinement of the original German MP-18.I machine gun. At first glance they could be mistaken for the Bergmann MP-18.I System Schmeisser model, but the select-fire button and larger diameter mainspring are notable giveaways. The MP-28 was initially fielded primarily to police formations, but later found their way into second-line military SS units. It is one of the most enjoyable German machine guns to shoot at the range as it holds very steady and has a nice slow rate of fire. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is a combination of fine original lustrous blue finish with some touch-up and refinish at the underside of the magazine housing and barrel shroud, otherwise thinning to a grey patina at the high edges of the end cap with some scattered peppering loss of finish to the receiver tube, more so to the rear of the ladder rear sight. Wood has numerous dings and handling marks yet still presents well with rich deep brown color. Bore is extremely fine, shiny, and bright. Bolt face also extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. This is a rather scarce model of German machine gun to find on the collector market, and as such attracts quite a bit of attention on the rare occasion when one becomes available. This is one of the better condition specimens to surface in recent years. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2021-11-018 Name Value Accessories Barrel Length 8" Caliber/Bore 9mm Para FFL Status NFA Manufacturer C.G. Haenel Model MP-28.II Paperwork Sear Serial Number Serial Number 15911
