(7 x 4 in.), bound in dark green morocco gilt, g.e. by SANGORSKI & SUTCLIFFE , with a transcript, plus a contemporary printed account of Napoleon's capture and exile. ENGLAND'S FOREMOST BARRISTER'S SECRET ADVICE TO THE PRIME MINISTER ON BONAPARTE'S IMPRISONMENT. Eldon's legal opinion, marked "Secret," regarding the international legal isssues of Napoleon's status and the legality of his imprisonment on St. Helana by the Allies: "...if Buonaparte is to be considered as a French Subject, his imprisonment after Peace is rather to be justified upon his Case forming an Exception to general rules of the Law of Nations than by any stated Rule of that Law...this Imprisonment is of absolute necessity to the future internal Peache & welfare of ourselves & our Allies. "
