Nyschens, Ian
Months of the Sun (Signed and Numbered First Edition 740/1000 copies)
Forty Years of Elephant Hunting in the Zambezi Valley.
Published: Safari Press Inc, Longbeach, California, 1997
Original dark blue boards with gilt outline and elephant in bush & the sun to upper board, and gilt lettering to spine. Ian Nyschens (pronounced "nations") has shot equally as many elephants as Walter Bell and under much more difficult circumstances. His book will rank or surpass the best elephant-ivory hunting books published in the twentieth century. Remarkably, his adventures took place much later than those of the like of Bell, Sutherland, Neumann, and others. Having shot well over 1000 elephants under circumstances that will be unbelievable to some, Ian Nyschens and his hunts with his double rifle are sure to impress. Included in this book is his remarkable adventure when he and some friends were charged by seventeen elephants in a swamp. He was the most notorious elephant poacher in Rhodesia until the time he was finally appointed a warden to help protect the game. This highly entertaining story of an irascible loner whose violent adventures make Jesse James sound like a Sunday school teacher!. Artwork by Larry Norton. This is volume twenty in Safari Press's Classics in African Hunting Series. 410pp, b&w photos. Signed and number first edition. 740/1000 copies, with slipcase. Fine. ISBN1571570454 Binding Condition: Fine Overall Condition: Fine with Slipcase Size: 28.5 x 22 cm
