Provenance The Paragon Press, pub. Artist Bio Peter Doig Scottish • 1959 One of the leading pioneers of contemporary figurative painting, artist Peter Doig is revered for his eclectic use of color and texture to depict ominous, ethereal and mysterious environments within nature. His practice maintains a thin and balanced line between landscape and figure, superimposing photographic imagery and memories, both real and imagined. Born in Scotland, raised in Canada and now based in Trinidad, Doig is well-versed in overlaying the aesthetics of the diverse cultures that have shaped his career. As a nod to abstraction as well as the concreteness of his settings, Doig allows the texture of painting to manipulate the images he uses and amplify the visual impact of these scenes.
